Variety: SL28, SL34

SL28 & SL34 are my standout favourite varieties, the juiciness and acidity from the best are second to none. So I'm really happy to have this tasty example of a Kenyan SL28, SL34 on the Tasting Series this week.

This coffee was specially grown by smallholders in Kirinyaga, Kenya. Members of the Rungeto Farmer's Cooperative Society, these farmers work together to pool resources and process their coffees with utmost care. Cherries are hand-sorted before pulping, and hand-sorted again into different quality groups for washing and drying. The process is detail-focused, but it turns out excellent coffee. These beans produce a delicate cup, equal parts sweet and tart. Sticky melon rind notes blend into sharper lime notes that echo back and forth with each sip. A full body makes this a substantial coffee that demands time to truly savor. The interplay of flavors in this cup is the sort of thing you can only see in truly premium coffees, and we're over the moon excited to get our hands on this lot to share with you.

There is a lot going on in this coffee, rather than try to list 100 different flavor descriptors we've kept this one short and we'll let you fill in the rest. Let us know what you think in the comments and what flavours you are tasting. This coffee is relatively less expensive for us to purchase than the previous weeks coffees so we can afford to ship 5oz in each shipment, enjoy.
