Las Piedras
Variety: Caturra, Bourbon
Processing: Washed
Origin: Huehuetenango, Guatemala
Producers: Octavio Ordoñez
Altitude: 1950m
The Herrera Ordoñez family has been farming on the same plots of land in Guatemala for over 50 years, now in their third generation of farmers focusing on growing tasty bourbon and caturra beans. They have seen the demand for specialty coffee grow over time, and have worked tirelessly to increase their coffee farming and processing practices to stay at the forefront of the coffee market. We became fans of theirs the second we tasted a cup of their coffee, and we're super excited to bring you another lot from their Las Piedras farm.
This coffee has a luscious flavor profile defined by a bright pineapple note over a smooth chocolate base. The pineapple flavor gives the cup a sharp tartnesss, while the smoothness of the chocolate note anchors that tartness in a full-bodied taste and tempers the acidity of the cup. This coffee exhibits a touch of apricot flavor as well, which is a nice middle-ground between the opposing chocolate and pineapple flavors, helping to tie together the flavor profile. Not bad. Can smell and taste the chocolate and pineapple the most. Not likely to order more

Not sure if it's just how I'm brewing this, but I've been getting a pretty strong black pepper note both on Aeropress & Chemex. Not sure what to attribute it to, and it's not necessarily bad, just wondering if anybody else is getting the same?

This is a sweet, acidic coffee but the flavors are kind of muddled instead of being bright. It's pleasant, but not outstanding in any way.

I brew this coffee from Chemex to Expresso to Lattes. The balance of flavors is exquisite!

Enjoyed this one a lot, very light mouthfeel and flavor. Not dense, but not in a bad way.

This coffee has the advantage of the deep rich, chocolate taste with the beautiful finish of apricot and pineapple. Yes, I did catch a bit of pepper. Not as acidity as the classic coffees but still has the depth of flavor. Just loved this coffee!
